First Citizens assists with Flood Relief efforts

In light of recent events in Trinidad and Tobago, First Citizens has taken steps to assist citizens who have been adversely affected by flooding.

First Citizens understands that although disasters such as floods may destroy houses and property, it is the spirit of a people that brings hope to communities. Therefore, an invitation has been extended to members of the public as well as corporate entities to donate towards the relief efforts through the First Citizens Flood Relief Fund – A/C# 1861618. The funds received through this account would be distributed through FEEL (Foundation for Enhancement and Enrichment of Life).

In addition, based on the response received from members of the public, First Citizens has also decided to offer for a limited time; a loan facility at significantly lower than normal interest rates to provide some support to flood victims throughout Trinidad and Tobago. However, one major criteria is that all interested persons must submit a letter from the Regional/City Corporation (or similar entity) confirming their need for assistance due to flooding.

The following provides some details of these specially tailored loans:

  • Loan Period: Wednesday August 25th to Thursday September 23rd 2010
  • Loan Size: Minimum amount $5k – Maximum amount $50k
  • Purpose: Replacement of Personal Effects lost due to flooding or Renovations to destroyed property due to excessive flooding
  • Term: Maximum of 36 months
