First Citizens Sports Foundation Supports Physical Education Thrust
Recently the Foundation made a contribution to the Tobago House of Assembly Department of Education, Youth and Sport in support of its project Physical Education Training for Teachers. The objective of this programme was to equip these teachers with a battery of exciting new activities to include in their teaching strategies for the new school year. The First Citizens Sports Foundation donated $30,000 worth of physical education equipment packages to 19 representatives of both primary and secondary schools that attended the programme. It was stated that based on the feedback received these packages provided an immense boost to the overall impact of the program. First Citizens considers participation in sport to be a key element in the social landscape of a developing country; it is the belief that healthy persons make a healthy community and in turn such communities contribute to a healthy nation; which is why the Group continues to demonstrate this commitment throughout the years. As part of its corporate social responsibility, the First Citizens Group considers sport a key investment and stands behind the decision of its Sports Foundation to invest in this initiative.
