'Vegetables' Education courtesy First Citizens

Press Release December 8, 2010

First Citizens has sponsored a second poster titled “Vegetables, Root Crops and Herbs of Trinidad and Tobago” which is an educational full colour chart highlighting the vegetables, root crops and herbs of Trinidad and Tobago in alphabetical order along with their scientific names. The poster was officially launched on Tuesday 7th December 2010 at Queen’s Hall, Port of Spain.

Similar to the previously launched “Fruits of Trinidad and Tobago”, this initiative is endorsed by the Ministry of Education and they will facilitate the distribution of posters to all primary and secondary schools as well as NALIS libraries. This distribution process will be followed by a series of educational competitions based on both posters within this academic year.

At the launch Jason Julien, General Manager for First Citizens Investment Services Limited highlighted that “improving literacy and understanding its importance in development of our nation’s youth are critical factors in the long term success of our economy”. For this reason First Citizens remains committed to continuously investing in promoting and encouraging youth development.
